November 2023 Favorites!

While everyone else is looking forward to 2024, I’m over here looking back at November!  Once again my best intentions got waylaid, and my “favorites” post took a backseat for a while.  Some good things happened in November, though, and I’m here now to write about them!

Early in November, the remodeling of our addition got started.  The plans were to have it freshly painted throughout, new wall-to-wall carpeting installed in all except the bathroom and kitchen, new flooring in the bathroom, and a new bathroom sink and cabinetry.

Here’s how it looked while the painting was being done:

Kitchen

Main living area

Main bedroom

And here it is after much of the work was done.  Still had a few final things to get done: faucets, hardware on cabinetry, reinstall the mirror above the sink, install new toilet, and replace bathroom vent/light.

New bathroom countertop, sink, and cabinetry

New bathroom flooring

Paint finished and new carpet installed

Everything was done by Thanksgiving, and we were able to shop for furniture during the Black Friday sales.  More pics to come in my December favorites!

On the 11th of November, I attended a baby shower for Amanda, who I know through Orangetheory Fitness.  It was the first baby shower I had been to in years.  I think the last one I was at was for Cara when she was expecting Helen, so almost 14 years ago!  It was quite a bit different than most baby showers I’ve ever been to and a lot of fun!

My friend Gris showed me how the camera station worked. You enter your phone number, and the photo gets sent to your phone. Neat!

For one of the games they had each guest cut a paper tape at a length they estimate will fit around Amanda’s baby belly. The one with the closest fit wins!

Cute paper and pencil games!

The 12-Minute Treadmill benchmark workout was held on November 16th.  I was really happy to be able to beat my personal best which I had previously set in 2018!

Okay, so I didn’t beat my best by much…I’m pretty far down on the chart of most-improved-PR’s, but still…I’ll take it as a BIG win! 😁

I love the three plants I ordered from Tanner the Planter’s live sale!  They arrived on November 17th.

L to R: Calathea Rufibarba, China Doll, and Dieffenbachia Reflector

I especially loved seeing that the Dieffenbachia arrived with NEW GROWTH coming on it!

This new leaf has unfurled since it arrived, and now there’s ANOTHER new one that looks just like this!

And on the 22nd, I received my first Hoya!

Isn’t she cute?

On the 18th, our sweet Leo turned 7 months old!  And look!…He’s now sitting up!

I SO love this little guy!

Although our Thanksgiving was quiet…just the two of us…I still really enjoyed it!  I started the morning off with a 90-minute workout at Orangetheory.

I’m not the only crazy one…see all these people?  Can you spot me?

After I got home, I enjoyed a second cup of coffee and a fairly quiet morning.  Did y’all see Dolly doing the half-time show for the Cowboys game?

She caused quite the stir on social media!  Some naysayers and some admirers.  I say DANG…at 77 she can look like this?  You go, girl!  Ya gotta love Dolly!

Big Eagle and I enjoyed a turkey dinner in the evening to top off the day!

If you love dogs, and especially if you love Golden Retrievers, you NEED to follow aguyandagoldenn on Instagram!

He posts the cutest videos of him and his dog!  They always bring a smile to my face and often an out-loud chuckle!  Plus he does great outreach service to his local animal shelter.  Big favorite here!

Well, there you go!  I loved remembering how great November was!  Now I better get on my December post.  I guess I know what my New Year’s Resolution needs to be…STAY ON TOP OF BLOG POSTS!

I hope you see me again soon here, but in case you don’t…HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I was wondering if I missed the latest blog for November but here you are! I got your Christmas card, and I am ashamed to say, we never got around to sending ours out this year. We are also in the middle of renovations, though not as big as yours. (Just one bathroom). But with work and everything else, it keeps us busy. I love the pictures of your newest grandchild, and your plants!

So great to hear from you, Andrea! No worries about not sending a card. I’ve had years when I didn’t send cards. And anyway, I’ll just consider this comment as your Christmas greeting! 😁 Hope you had a great holiday time. Happy New Year!
