March 2022 Favorites!

I recently overheard some people complaining that they were so glad that March was over and that April was finally here.  They said they felt like March dragged by.  Not so for me!  Spring is my favorite time of year.  And Spring starts in March, so I always look forward to this month and relish it all the way through!  Today I’m taking a look at some of my favorites from the month of March!

Favorite #1

When the weather warms up, I love to wear an easy casual dress!  Over the last few years, I’ve been working on adding more of them to my wardrobe.  At my age, I don’t want them too short, but just above the knee or a little longer works for my comfort zone.

Megan Kristel of thewelldressedlife recently showcased this chambray sheath dress on her site.  I liked the look, so ordered it, and it’s a keeper!

I hadn’t done the Dri-Tri event at Orangetheory Fitness in probably 4 years, but I decided to see if I still had the stamina this year.  It was held on the 19th of the month, and my only goal was to NOT finish last.  The Dri-Tri consists of a 2,000-meter row, 300 body-weight exercises, and a 5K on the treadmill for runners or a 1.55-mile walk for power walkers.  I am the latter.

Results?  Here they are:

Despite the fact that my last name is misspelled, I’m happy with the results.  I was the last one off of the rower, but not by too much.  Then I was the last one off of the floor by a lot.  The floor is always hard for me.  I was worried I would be coming in last overall.  But I made up my time on the treadmill!  There were at least 3 others still working to finish when I was done.  So I guess for now I’m still a tiny bit of a contender.  Ha!

Here’s the group picture they took of us afterward:

It was really hard work, but I’m glad to have met my goal!

This picture was featured on another post of mine, but it truly was a favorite of March, so here it is again:  the beautiful daffodils this season!

They really put on a great show this year! 🥰

Favorite #4

It was favorite news when I heard that one of my favorite fiction books is coming out as a movie soon!  Here’s the trailer:

I read that it is supposed to be in theaters in July of this year!

Favorite #5

I gave blood on the last Sunday of the month.  Not that giving blood is one of my favorite things to do, but it does make me feel good that I’m doing something to help others.

And another thing that made it a favorite was the compliment I received from the technician who took my blood.  He said I had BEAUTIFUL veins!  Ha!  Not your usual compliment, but I’ll take what I can get.

The final thing that made it a favorite was that as I was giving blood, right across from me was a friendly acquaintance from Orangetheory Fitness also giving blood!  Afterward, while we were doing our 15 minutes of sitting and having refreshments, Becky and I had a great chat the whole time.  😃

The last Tuesday of March, our long-time and cherished friends, Lora and Denny, drove up from Conroe!  Their oldest grandson is a pitcher this year on the TCU baseball team, and he was the STARTING pitcher this night!  We visited a little at the house, then had an early dinner on the way up to Fort Worth to attend the game.

We got there in plenty of time for the first pitch.  Here we are waiting for the game to start:

I was the only one not wearing a TCU shirt or purple, so we decided that that needs to be rectified before I attend another game. 😲

Mr. Caedmon Parker pitched a great 3 1/2 innings before a replacement was sent in.  It was so much fun watching him!

Keep your eye on #3!  He’s only a freshman, and not just a great ball player, but a fine, young man.  Go, Caedmon!

Favorite #7

Enjoying working in the garden for the most part.  Right now, I’ve been spending my days out there mostly doing weeding, which is NOT my favorite.  But I love seeing everything grow!  So here’s a little update:

The last time I posted a picture of the sugar snap peas, all you saw was dirt, because they were just seeds in the ground.  Now they’re up and have started vining out.  They’ve even begun to attach themselves to the structures I have set up for them to climb!  However, they’ve also begun to attach themselves to weeds in areas I haven’t mulched yet.  So as I weed, I talk to them and tell them, “No, you don’t want to attach yourself there.  They are not your friend.  They just want to suck all your water and nutrients away from you.”  (I know, I’m weird.)

Since I last posted about my garden, I’ve planted radishes (not shown here), peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, and spinach.  This is one of the two bell peppers I planted.  I also planted one serrano and one jalapeno.

Above is one of the tomato plants I put in.  It’s a roma.  I put in 3 romas and 2 celebrities.  Much less than we’ve planted in the past, but it should still be plenty.  I’ve often been guilty of over-planting.

Not showing the lettuce or spinach, because they’re pretty much just seeds under the dirt right now.  Although 7 of the spinach plants did just sprout today.

I loved March!  Loving April now, too!  I just love the springtime!

Almost bought that dress! – love dresses/skirts with pockets. Where the Crawdads Sing is such a great book. Looking forward to the movie. And love college baseball – one of my March favs was spending a long weekend with Wes in Virginia. Went to a GWU baseball game.
