Let’s Look at What’s in My Grocery Cart!

Good morning!  I’m linking up with Erika and Shay today to participate in their Let’s Look post for March!  This month we’re looking at our grocery carts.  Not sure how exciting THAT is for anybody, but I’ll give you a peek at mine anyway. 😁

We do the majority of our grocery shopping at HEB right here in Burleson.  This is my most recent cart, which I shopped for on Wednesday of this past week.

We’re currently eating salads most nights for dinner, so you see leaf lettuce, broccoli, tomatoes, and red bell pepper, plus radishes and a cucumber hiding back there on either side of the lettuce.  However, a couple of nights a week we have what I guess you would call a more traditional dinner.  This particular Wednesday night I was planning to make a chicken stir-fry.  Hence the chicken, rice, onion, and soy sauce in my cart.  Plus there are some snow peas in there somewhere.  Other things…Big Eagle likes to always have swiss cheese in the fridge, and he’s the one that eats that cereal you see, which is basically HEB’s version of Cheerios.  The pink-topped container is also for him.  It’s lime sherbet.  He’s been on a sherbet kick lately.  Now the red-topped container is mine.  That’s some yummy rocky road ice cream! 😋 The apples in the top section are my favorite…Honeycrisps!  I eat 1/2 of one each morning with my oatmeal.  We both eat the cottage cheese, but I think I eat most of it.  I often have a cup of it with my lunch.  Pepper just because we ran out of pepper.  We go through one and a half to two gallons of milk each week.   And I grabbed that bag of garlic and herb frozen french fries just because they looked good, and they would be something new to try!

And then…OMG…on the way to the check-outs, I saw this super cute springtime mug!  I’m a sucker for a cute mug, so into my cart it went!

However, I was disappointed after I got home and took the sticker off of the bottom of the mug.  That’s when I saw that it is NOT dishwasher safe or microwave safe.  So instead of using it for coffee, I decided it could make a good container for my Hoya!

And a sidenote here:  Since I mentioned that I was making stir-fry that night, it’s worth mentioning that this stir-fry sauce is really good and makes throwing together a stir-fry a bit easier and faster.  I already had this bottle at home, so I didn’t need to add one to my cart that day.  I use about 1/3 cup when I make the stir fry, and it’s just enough.

While we get most of our groceries at HEB, we do also make the drive to Costco in Ft. Worth for certain things that we find are cheaper to buy there.  Here are some of the things we get from Costco:

Both the olives come in a two-pack, and the catsup comes in a 3-pack.  We picked up this Kerrygold cheddar last time we were there.  We usually get a different one, but they were giving out samples of this one, and we liked it, too.  These tomatoes are really good in salad and for snacking.  This package is getting low.  Guess we’ll need to be making another trip soon!  Some other things we get regularly at Costco are bagels, K-cups, Velveeta, ground beef, steaks, Olay body wash, Olive Garden salad dressing, toilet bowl cleaner, and some of Big Eagle’s vitamins.

Oh, and as much as we love HEB, it’s Costco for the win when it comes to rotisserie chicken!  The rotisserie chicken at Costco is larger, dollars cheaper, and moister.

So there you have it!  Now you know what’s in my grocery cart!  Happy Sunday!  Hope you have a great start to your week!

I do not enjoy grocery shopping, but I am heading to BJ’s Warehouse today for similar items – cheese, vitamins, frozen fruit, dog food….I’ve never really looked at their deli, but that rotisserie chicken description makes me want to check it out 😋
