February 2024 Favorites!

Wow!  February went by so fast, even though it had an extra day in it this year!  And it didn’t seem as gloomy as some past Februarys have.  🌞 I’m here with a quick look back at some of my personal highlights from the month!

All month long, every day, the pictures on these calendars brightened my days!

My daughter Cara and her family gave us this calendar at Christmas:

It hangs on the wall just inside our kitchen.  Every time I make the turn from the hallway into the kitchen, looking at the pictures displayed on it brings me instant happiness!

And my son Danny and his wife Erin gave us this calendar for Christmas:

This one sits on my desk, and every time I sit down and turn on my computer, I look at the pictures during the few seconds it takes for it to boot up.  During February, especially when I looked at the small picture of Leo, I felt love and happiness inside and out.  I mean,  LOOK at that joyfulness! 🥰

Early in February this coffee table was delivered!  I had ordered it from Macy’s for the addition, and I think it’s perfect!

The fact that it was relatively inexpensive was an added bonus! 😁

The night before Valentine’s Day, I celebrated Galantine’s with girlfriends at a Keno night!   I hadn’t played Keno in years and years.  It’s the same as Bingo, except instead of using letters and numbers, you use suits and numbers from a deck of cards.

In the picture below of the back of my head, I had just won a round!

If you win a round, then you are the next caller, so in the next picture, I’m calling the suits and numbers and playing at the same time.

At the end of the night, our amazing hostess Khim (front and center in the pic below) had her daughter take a picture of our Galantine’s group.

What a fun night!

For our actual Valentine’s night, Big Eagle and I stayed home and had steak, mashed potatoes, and asparagus.  It’s so much easier sometimes to have a special meal at home than to go out.  I didn’t take any pictures, but that evening was a favorite, too!

At the end of that week, our long-time friends Lora and Denny came up.  We went to the opening night of TCU baseball with them, and then they spent the night with us.

OMG, it was C-O-L-D!  Lora took this selfie of her, me, and Big Eagle in the stands.  I had on a base layer under my clothes and my Antarctica parka, and the clothing helped a lot!

Their grandson Caedmon, is a pitcher for TCU, and it became a lot more exciting to watch in the third inning when he was called to the mound!

I can’t take credit for this picture of Caedmon.  All the pictures I took while he was pitching that night were from too far away to be any good.  I found this one on the internet.

TCU won that night, and before Lora and Denny left the next day to head home, we had lunch together at Grump’s in old town Burleson.

Always great to spend time with good friends!  Hopefully, the next time they’re up for a game, the weather is not so frigid!

During the last weekend of the month, our granddaughter Edith competed for the first time in the Louisiana state short course swim meet at LSU in Baton Rouge.  I am continually thankful for the technology available to us in this age we live in.  Thanks to YouTube and live streaming, Big Eagle and I were able to watch her compete on our television!  She swam in events on all three days: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

In this picture, she’s in the second lane getting out of the pool at the end of the girls’ 10 and under 50-yard butterfly.  I’m so proud of her! 😍 On Sunday morning, she even came in FIRST in her heat for the 200-yard IM!  IM stands for Individual Medley, which means she swam all four strokes in one race.  I was really sad we missed seeing that one, but really glad to find out she did so well!

I’m pretty sure I post a picture of the daffodils every year.  It’s just so cheerful to see them near the end of winter!

We have these bright yellow ones, like in the picture above, and we also have these super-pale yellow ones with the bright center (below).

Such beauty!

We ended the month on a high note by making the drive to Louisiana to see Cara, Paul, Helen, and Edie!  I was able to go to Edie’s tumbling class and watch her in action.  This is a screen shot from a video, so a little on the blurry side, but it shows the progress she’s made since the last time I visited her tumbling class.

When she came out to the viewing area after class, I took this next picture.  Later that evening back at home, she played with it to give herself eyeliner, earrings, and polish on her nails.  Ha ha!  She’s always doing something to make me laugh!

One last photo…an after dinner shot of Big Eagle, Edie, and Helen while we were having a little dessert after dinner that night.

So it’s hello to March, as February is now in our rearview mirror!  I’m excited to be heading into Springtime: my favorite season of the year!  Wishing everyone a great weekend!
