It was a super September this year, but it’s over now, so it’s time to post my favorites from the month! I only have 6 in the list this month, and none of them are purchased products. That’s a reflection of my quest to be frugal after a somewhat expensive summer. And a third of the list is food. It seems there is always food on my favorites lists. (Yum yum!)

Seeing long-time friends is always a special treat. The month of September started out great with an overnight visit from our friends Denny and Lora! They came on my birthday, so it was a celebration! They even brought a cake and candles with them. And since Big Eagle was out of town on business, it kept it from being a lonely birthday.
The next morning Big Eagle returned, so the four of us went out for breakfast. This is Denny and Lora at Our Place (my favorite breakfast spot in town). I truly treasure the friendship we have with these two, so their visit was a big favorite for the month!

I hosted book club this month, so that means I prepared lunch and a dessert for our little group. We often like to try new recipes on each other, and that’s what I did this month. I’m always a little anxious about how a dish will turn out when I’ve never made it before. But I was really pleased! This is my favorite meal that I made in all of September.
This is Primavera Stuffed Chicken. I served it with tri-colored pasta and garlic bread sticks. I got the recipe off of delish.com. If you want to give it a whirl, you can find it by clicking here.
Since it was September, it seemed to me that I should make a dessert with apples. This Easy Apple Crisp really fit the bill. It’s definitely a keeper, and I’ll be making it again. Big Eagle really liked it, too.
The recipe for this one came from Cooking Classy. The author’s suggestion to served it topped with ice cream and salted caramel sauce was spot on. The recipe is here. If you make this one, you WON’T be sorry!

Two of my favorite people are my son Danny and his beautiful new bride Erin. This is my favorite honeymoon picture that they sent me in September.

My favorite activity from the month was the week-long mid-west solo road trip that I took. If you missed my post about it, you can click here to read it.

Our dinner out this past Saturday evening was at one of our favorite restaurants.
This was my favorite dinner out with Big Eagle for the month of September. One of the things that make it a favorite is that we were able to eat outside thanks to the evening breeze.
I had two Baja Fish tacos and one Chicken and Chorizo taco. So good!
Their Key Lime Pie dessert is heavenly! We didn’t have it this time, but lots of times we get one to share.

More of my favorite people here! The Bovets: my daughter Cara, her husband Paul, and my two amazing granddaughters Helen and Edie. This picture was taken this past Saturday in Nigeria. They were attending the Nigerian Independence Day party in their neighborhood, hence the beautiful Nigerian garb!
I love this family! Wish they weren’t so far away.
If you were hoping for product recommendations, I’m sorry to disappoint. For the time being, I’m trying to curb my consumerism. And really, when it comes down to it, the people and events of my life are much more important to me than the “stuff”.
Maybe you’d like to take a moment to reflect on the past month. What favorite moments from September do you recall? Does anything above strike a chord with you? Comment below if you’d like to share. I’d love to read what you have to say. Let’s do our best to savor all that life brings our way in October!
