Yep! Over half of April is gone already, and I still haven’t posted my March favorites. Don’t know why I’ve been dragging my feet. Maybe because I don’t really have that many to highlight. But since it’s feeling like early March here today, I suppose it’s as good a day as any to publish this post.
Before I get into my favorites, here’s what I mean about it feeling like March. We had a frost warning for this morning, so I was out in the garden last night around 7:00 covering up those plants that could possibly suffer damage. I’ve worked too hard to get all of these growing to risk losing them.
In the foreground are the covered green beans and behind them the tomatoes covered in their cages. I also covered the bell peppers and watermelon with buckets. It was 48 degrees this morning when I went out to uncover them at 9:30. Pretty chilly for April 21st! I’m happy to report that everything was looking good!
Now on to my March favorites!
Favorite #1
Early in the month I drove down to Houston to stay with Helen and Edie while their parents had to be out of town. ANY TIME I can be with my granddaughters is ALWAYS a favorite!
I brought a couple of make-up bags with samples I had collected, and the girls and I played around with them. That’s what we were doing when this lovely picture was taken:
Oh, my! The color of lipstick I had applied was obscene, but Helen wanted to take a picture, so I did my best to hide my lips. The lip gloss Helen put on looks really good, though.
The girls were about to transition from the online learning they’d been doing all year to in-school classes. So that Friday they had an after-school appointment to tour the building with Edie’s teacher. It was so nice to get to meet her after watching her teach Edie on-line. I think she’s a great teacher, and I applaud all the hard-working teachers, especially during this time when so many of them are having to teach not only the students in their classrooms, but simultaneously teach students who opt to learn at home online. It was dress-up-as-your-favorite-book-character day, so Edie’s teacher was Ms. Frizzell from The Magic School Bus series. Fun!
Playing with their Barbies is always fun for the girls, and I loved how Sunny was just chilling there while they played.
That Saturday was my last full day there, and it was such a pretty day that we went through the Chick-Fil-A drive-through, drove back home, and then walked to the park with our lunch and Sunny for a picnic and playing.
This girl wanted a 12-piece nugget package, and she ate every bit of it. Nice!
Favorite #2
On May 11th I had my second Moderna vaccination, so by the end of March, I was good to go. Time to get back to some semblance of a little more NORMAL lifestyle! YAY!
Favorite #3
The asparagus is growing again, and this year we can finally start eating it. It’s so fat, though, that I’m waiting for the thinner stalks to start coming up. In the meantime, I watched a you-tube video where the fellow showed that you could eat the little asparaguses that branch off on the over-grown plants. So I brought some in and used them in our salads!
Favorite #4
I’d been wanting some all-white sneakers for some time to go walking in. Finally decided on these ones:
They’re just a wee tight in the toe area, but they’re leather, so I’m hoping they’ll stretch. Other than that, I’m happy with them.
This picture that Paul took is the only one I have of me wearing them. Not the best picture of me, but again…Helen looks great! 😁
What a lovely stance! (Sheesh!)
So there you have it! Only 4 favorites to highlight from March. 4 is better than zero, though, right? Before you know it, it’ll be time to post my April favorites! This month is going by so fast!
