This post is short and sweet.  I just wanted to spread the word!

 

If you live near an H-E-B in Texas and are planning to put in a vegetable garden this spring, you need to know that H-E-B has a special right now on their transplants.  They are normally $1.50 each, but right now they are displaying a yellow coupon that lets you get one free if you buy two.  That would bring the overall price down to $1 each, which is a really good deal.  This is the third year in a row that I’ve bought my tomatoes and some other transplants from H-E-B while they were running this deal.

 

These babies will be put into the garden soon.

I bought 6 Celebrity tomatoes, 2 jalapenos, 3 bell peppers, and a basil plant.  I had to search among the different varieties of tomatoes to find the Celebrities.  They are the variety that the local gardening guru recommends for our area.

 

Last year I planted 13 tomato plants.  I’m scaling back this year.  Here’s how the they looked in the garden at harvest time last year.

You sure can’t beat fresh tomatoes from the garden.  They are one of my favorite things about summer!

 

So if you’re a gardener in Texas wanting to plant vegetables, I highly recommend getting to H-E-B as soon as you can to grab some transplants before this special offer goes away.  If you go, I’d love to hear what plants you went home with.
