A lot of the blogs that I read do a Friday Favorites post, and I really enjoy reading them. So I want to include that type of post in my blog as well, however I don’t consider myself a very heavy consumer, so I’m not sure I would have enough favorites to post them weekly. I do realize favorites don’t have to be items that have been purchased. They can also be events, pictures, sayings, people, TV shows, etc. I just think to be on the safe side, I’m going to start out with monthly favorites posts. If down the road, I discover I want to post them more frequently, I can change it up then. I’d like to do these posts sometime during the last week of the month to which they pertain, but for this first one, I’m a little behind for February, seeing as how this is March 1st, but here we go!

Doc B’s Fresh Kitchen!
Big Eagle and I went here early in the month for our date night. It was our first time to try this restaurant, and we liked it. It has a cool vibe and is located in a fairly new shopping area of Ft. Worth called The Shops at Clearfork. I had the dinner feature, which was fish, but now I can’t remember exactly what kind it was, but it was delicious. It was served with roasted broccoli that had garlic and shaved cheese on it, and it was surprisingly good. I’m shameless and ate everything on my plate. Big Eagle had the Rigatoni Gigante With A ‘Gigantic’ Meatball, and let me tell you, they’re not fooling when they call the meatball gigantic. I’ve never seen a meatball that big. He really enjoyed his food, too, but he couldn’t finish the whole meatball. Needless to say, we had no room for dessert. I look forward to a repeat visit. We’d like to go when the weather is warmer, so we can enjoying browsing all the shops in the area before dinner. If you are anywhere near the Ft. Worth area, this is one worth checking out.

I bought this vase of tulips at Costco a few weeks ago. There were only leaves at the time of purchase…no buds, no blooms. There is a plastic ring near the bottom that the bulbs sit on which keeps them raised above the bottom of the glass. The directions said to keep the water level where the bottom of the bulbs would be immersed, and you would have flowers in 2-3 weeks. I thought these would be lovely on the window sill next to Mom’s bed, but alas, the window sill is too narrow, so they had to be kept on her coffee table. Not as easy for her to see, but I lifted them up from time to time for her to enjoy. This picture was taken after the first few buds opened. More opened later, and they were just so beautiful. Definitely a good buy!

The day before Valentine’s Day, I hosted my book club. As the hostess, I was responsible for lunch and a dessert. I made this Italian Melt which turned out SO good! And for dessert, I made this
CREAM PUFF CAKE!
And it really did taste just like a cream puff in cake form. So yummy!

This was an Underarmour Box month, and I was looking forward to its arrival.
This is how it looked upon opening. And here are the contents laid out:
I loved the color combinations, but in the end I only kept one piece. Last time they included a sports bra, but it was $60, which was more than I was willing to pay. I was hoping they would send one this time, because I really do need a new one, so I was thrilled to see that this one was more in my price range at $40, and it is the piece I kept. The zip-up hoodie fit perfectly and felt so soft and comfy, but I had to have a talk with myself, because I truly do not need another outer layer right now.

Big Eagle and I had the popcorn ceiling removed from one bedroom, the laundry room, and our hallways at the beginning of this month, and then we commenced to painting those areas. This is still a work-in-progress, but the painting in the bedroom is finished except for the doors, and I am loving the color we picked.
It’s actually kind of hard to tell in this picture, but this is Grayish by Sherwin Williams. As you can see, we painted the woodwork white, and we think we are going to paint the doors black. The closet doors have been removed at this stage.

The author of one of the blogs I follow is doing a monthly baking challenge this year. I enjoy baking, but I don’t do it much any more, so I thought this would be a fun thing to participate in, and it would stretch my baking skills. This month the challenge was to bake a chocolate souffle. You could do a single large one, or individual ones. I chose to do individual ones.
Here are my completed ramekins after I sprinkled them with the powdered sugar. And here is what it looks like right before you put it into your pie hole:
It’s also really good with a pile of whipped cream on top! If you’d also be interested in taking on this challenge, you can find it at browneyedbaker.com.

I saved the best for last! This is a drawing that my youngest granddaughter created of her family and dog along with Big Eagle, me, and Annie:
I am second from the right, and Big Eagle is on the right end. That’s Annie in front of us, and she is sporting a unicorn horn! Love, love, love!
That’s it! I hope you enjoyed my first-ever monthly favorites post.
