Well, it’s FINALLY the first day of March! It’s normally January that drags on, but this year it was February. I think because of the almost full week of freezing temps here in Texas. Although it seemed to last longer than usual and was W-A-Y colder than recent past years, February had some great moments. Here are my February Favorites!

I don’t normally get too into Super Bowl Sunday, but this year the Buccaneers were there, so it was a different story. In our family the BIG Buc fans are my son Danny and my husband Big Eagle. Since Danny is living in Lithuania, he was up into the wee hours watching the game. And even my daughter’s family, who do not usually watch football at all, were into it!
So it was a fun night! The whole time, Big Eagle and I, our daughter Cara, and Danny were texting back and forth. It was so much fun, and you KNOW I love any time I’m connected with my family. Big Eagle and I just had a charcuterie board for our dinner that night…easy peasy!
And oh so good! 😋 Of course, we were all ecstatic to see the Bucs win! Poor Danny…I think it was like 3 in the morning there by the time the game was over, and he was so wound up, I’m sure it took him some time to calm down enough to be able to get to sleep! Probably a rough start to his Monday morning.

The same day as the Super Bowl, February 7th, was also the second anniversary of this here blog! To celebrate, I had a little giveaway. 😁 Early in February, I ordered this prayer journal:
And while I was at it, I ordered 2 extra to give away. I’m happy to report that the winners were Lora Parker and Andrea Clark! I hope they are enjoying their journals as much as I’m enjoying mine.

I received my first COVID vaccination! Woo hoo!
I get the second one next week. Big Eagle has already had both of his. So we are looking forward to happier times ahead!

We are SO thankful to be reaping the benefits of last summer’s garden! Especially during the BIG FREEZE here in Texas. This tomato soup stocked up in our freezer has been so great!
The classic grilled cheese and tomato soup! My daughter Cara made this soup and shared the recipe with me last summer when I had more tomatoes than I knew what to do with. Hence we had many tubs of tomato soup in our freezer to get us through this cold winter! And it is SO good! A recipe post will be coming soon!

On Valentine’s Day night the first episode of this season’s American Idol aired! I’ve been a true blue fan of this show since it’s inception, so I’ve watched all three episodes so far. Last night I found my favorite up to now…19-year-old Alanis Sophia.
Here she is with her mom after she sang Demi Levato’s “Anyone”. I thought she did spectacular! Looking forward to seeing what other talent she may be up against.

As soon as the snow and freezing temps were gone in Houston, my granddaughter Helen set up her booth on the curb outside their house and sold her Girl Scout cookies.
Are you kidding me? WHO could resist this? NOBODY, that’s who! And, yes…she sold out!

I got a FaceTime call last week from Helen’s sister Edie. She had lost another tooth! I posted her as one of my favorites last month when she lost a tooth, and here I’m posting about her for the same thing again! And she has another loose one, so you may be hearing about her again as a March favorite. Ha! I only regret that I didn’t snap a picture during the call. But I did snap one of this Valentine that she sent to Big Eagle and me.
Anytime I hear from one of my granddaughters, whether it’s a FaceTime, a phone call, a text, or through snail mail it’s ALWAYS a favorite! 🥰

I took this picture of the daffodils in our flower bed on February 5th. I was so excited that they were up and looking like they were getting ready to bloom!
And then 11 days later, I took this picture of the daffodils:
I felt sure there would be no blooming going on this year.
Then on the last day of February, I took this picture:
Don’t lose hope, friends! How on earth these beauties survived that freeze is a mystery to me. It’s also a HUGE favorite!
So they say that today is the first day of meteorological spring. I don’t know. I don’t even remember hearing of “meteorological” spring until just a few years ago. To me the first day of spring will be on March 20th this year. And I LOVE spring! It is my favorite season of the year! So I’m very much looking forward to it.
I hope you have some wonderful memories from February. If you do and would like to share, I hope you will in the comment section below! Maybe you’re just glad it’s over! Totally understandable! Share that, too, and what you’re looking forward to. Here’s to March, and the coming springtime!
