I’ve read in a couple of places lately people commenting that the days are long, but the years are short. I totally disagree! The days are not long. ALL increments of time are just going by way too fast! That being said, we are already one month into our fall season, so it’s time to see where I’m at as far as accomplishing my autumn bucket list goals.
FALL BUCKET LIST UPDATE
Health & Fitness
(✔) 1. Schedule my annual mammogram
Not only did I schedule it, but I had it done this past Friday. Here I’m in my bedroom practicing with my new selfie stick before leaving to drive to Ft. Worth for my appointment.
This is where I go for my mammograms. It’s such a nice place! They really do their best to make you feel as comfortable as possible.
And here I am in the changing room. I’m all checked in and changed. Time to go put my girls in the vise! Haven’t gotten my results yet, but I have no reason to expect anything other than normal results. It is still peace of mind, though, to see it in black and white. I should get the results in a day or two now. It’s just coincidence that my annual appointment comes up in Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you’re due or overdue, schedule it. They say early detection is key!
( ) 2. Complete Hell Week Challenge at Orangetheory Fitness, and complete every 90-minute class that my schedule allows throughout the fall. Hell Week starts this Thursday. I already have my 5 classes scheduled. So far this month there was one 90-minute class, but it was while I was in Florida, so I wasn’t able to go. Big Eagle did say he would take me to the closest Orangetheory to where we were staying, but I just couldn’t ask him to get up that early on a getaway weekend. Plus the studio already had a waiting list for the class. The next 90-minute class is this Saturday, and I’m already scheduled to attend.
( ) 3. Establish a weekday routine to start off my day. I haven’t been successful with this one yet, but I’m working on it. One thing I decided was that on workout days, I would schedule myself into the 6:15 a.m. class. I’ve been going to either the 8:45 or 10:00 class, and that just breaks up the morning too much. I started this morning, and so far I think it’s going to work out great! Going to a 6:15 class means I set my alarm for 4:15. This habit started back in the days when I was doing marathon training. I always tried to fuel my body 2 hours before my run by eating breakfast and drinking at least 16 ounces of water. That gives your body 2 hours to absorb what you’ve put in it. I still have to figure out non-workout day routines, but as I said … I’m working on it.
Joy
( ) 1. Create my gallery wall. Haven’t started, but it’s GOING to happen.
(✔) 2. Decorate for fall. This one’s done! I don’t put out elaborate decorations for fall, but I do a few.
After looking at this entryway photo, I’ve decided I need to get a fall-themed door mat!
This is the table in our entryway. I’ll need to add a few more fall/Thanksgiving items once Halloween is over and I pack those things up for another year.
There are a few more things here and there around the house, but these are pretty much the main ones.
( ) 3. Complete our interior update on our house. This one is moving v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. Nuff said.
(✔) 4. Spread bluebonnet seeds.
Well, when I read up on this, I learned that you need 20 to 30 pounds of seeds to do the amount of space I wanted to do. Uh … I ordered this one-pound bag of seeds. So I’m starting out with a much smaller area than first intended.
I waited until yesterday to spread them, because we were expecting rain overnight, and I thought that would be a good thing to get the seeds into the ground better. I read that it helps to mix the seeds with sand or soil before spreading them, so I did that in this bucket.
The next picture shows the area where I scattered the seeds. It’s on the other side of the swale from our house, and the white stakes mark it off.
Learning & Growth
( ) 1. Educate myself about improving my blog. Haven’t started on this yet.
(✔) 2. Submit applications for a seasonal job. I’m calling this one done, although I may submit 2 or 3 more. But I submitted one and interviewed with Target. They emailed me a “thanks, but no thanks”. I also submitted one to James Avery. They emailed me the “thanks, but no thanks” without even granting me an interview. I don’t NEED a job … just thought it might be a fun thing to do, especially just for a season. I like to think that people who needed the jobs a lot more than I did were hired for them.
Relationships
( ) 1. Attend a high school or college football game with Big Eagle. Haven’t done this yet.
( ) 2. Host some kind of holiday get together. Working on this one. I have in mind what I want to do, so I just need to plan it out and put it in motion.
There you have it! So out of 11 items, I’ve completed 4 in the first month. I’m happy with that. 😁 However, I’m going to have to really get with it on a couple of the more difficult goals if I want to be successful by the end of the season.
I know some of you are also working on goals this fall. How’s it going so far? Have you added anything to your list? I hope you’re enjoying some fall weather! We are finally having somewhat cooler temperatures, but still nothing close to sweater weather. I know it’s coming, though. So for now I’m enjoying the moderate temperatures we’re having here in the D/FW area.
